Surfaris has established a Surf Instructor course for those interested in qualifying as Surf Coaches with Internationally recognised accreditation.

It is the ultimate way to complete your accreditation.  You will gain valuable on the job experience with real students, stay at one of the best surf locations in Australia, surrounded by national parks, abundance of white sandy beaches and native animals.  You will experience Australia and the Aussie surfing lifestyle first hand, make new friends and have loads of fun. 

This course starts on the 1st Monday of every month & includes all accommodation & meals over the period of the course. Participants will have the option of travelling any weekend with the Surfaris bus to Byron Bay on the Friday & returning to the Crescent Head surf camp on the Sunday although accommodation & meals in Byron over those weekends, will be at the Customers expense.

 

Surfaris Instructor Development Course for Intermediate Surfers.  

" Level 1 Surfing Instructor"  Courses commence Monday 4th October 2010.

Total Course Length: 28 days.

Course Entry Requirements: Intermediate surfing skill and knowledge. The ability to perform bottom turn (with spray) , cut back and re-entry in minimum 3 foot surf. The ability to swim 500 meters in less than 10 minutes. 18 years and over.

Outcome: Full accreditation -"Level 1 Surf Instructor"

 

Description:

28 day course designed for intermediate level surfers to obtain the necessary qualifications to be a fully qualified

Surf Coach.

 

The course develops the following skills:

  • Instruction & coaching techniques                                 
  • Preparing training plans
  • Identify & manage surfing risks /hazards                        
  • Minamising environment impact
  • Emergancy processes & responses                              
  • Assessment methods for students                
    Communication skills in the surf environment                 
  • First Aid and Advanced Rescuscitation

  • Surf Rescue

Qualifications Obtained:

On demonstrating competency, this 28 day course provides you with all necessary qualifications to commence surf coach work immediately after your course.


                  These include:

  • OSSCA (Ocean Safety Surf Coach Award) issued by the Professional Australian Lifeguard Association
  • Senior First Aid qualification
  • Advanced Resuscitation qualification
  • Surfing Instructor Level 1
  • Minimum 50 hours surf coaching work experience at our accredited surf school

  • 28 nights accommodation at Surfaris Central Surf Camp, Crescent Head.

General Info:

Getting your surf qualifications can be a complicated and lengthy procedure. Surfaris Surf Academy courses prepare you for getting your qualifications within an easy to understand format.

The surf academy courses are run by our professional surf coaches at Crescent Head who hold qualifications ranging from Level 1 thru Level 4.

Your qualification can gain you work anywhere in the world.  You will recieve valuable on the job expeirence, working with real students. You will reside in the community of Crescent Head known for its fantastic surf breaks up to elite level. No need to worry about the crowds, you will be away from the city staying in accomodation with nature all around.

All accommodation and food is provided at our Camp so you only need to concentrate on getting your instructor qualifications. On completion of your course each student will recieve a personal reference.

Enrolment Dates:

1st Monday of every month.

Departs Sydney:

Monday morning at 7:45am from Bus Stop 7, Eddy Ave., Central Station, Sydney.
The Course includes transport to either Byron Bay on any Friday or return to Sydney on any Sunday.
